Online game developers Wild Tangent were ready to launch their newest game Road Ready StreetWise. However, this was no ordinary game. Wild Tangent partnered with Daimler Chrysler to teach driving skills in a fun way.
The game included a number of fun scenarios, including driving home obnoxious friends, dodging pedestrians, driving on back roads, and a simulated drunk driving course sponsored by M.A.D.D. illustrating how driving is impaired under the influence. Now that's a game any parent would let their teen play.
Road Ready StreetWise was to be unveiled at a press conference in Washington, D.C. LUX was called in to create the media segments for the jumbo tron at the press conference as well as a video news reel for media outlets and web placement.
We were also asked to produce 3 minute simulations of the game being played in case of catastrophic failure at the press conference. (That never happens - does it? Yeah, all the time.)
As usual, we didn't have much time to pull this off and still managed to deliver on time. (NOTE TO CLIENTS: You can call more than a week in advance. Honest.) Of course, a hurricane decided to hit the East Coast, and the entire event was delayed.
Eventually, everything worked and the announcement was a huge success, if a few days late. We feel better knowing we might be helping some soon-to-be teen drivers. ;)
